The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defenseman Jamie Oleksiak from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a conditional 2019 fourth-round pick, the team announced on Tuesday.
Pittsburgh dealt Josh Archibald to the Arizona Coyotes earlier today, acquiring Michael Leighton and a 2019 fourth-round pick (originally Minnesota’s) in return.
Dallas will get whichever pick, Minnesota or Pittsburgh’s own, is earlier in the fourth round of the NFL draft as part of the trade compensation.
Archibold is considered an undersized forward without a ton of upside but the Coyotes see something they like.
Oleksiak, 24, has recorded three points in 21 games played this season. Over his 6 seasons in Dallas he scored 22 points over 140 regular-season games.
