The Calgary Flames and the Carolina Hurricanes have completed a 5-player swap that will see defenseman Dougie Hamilton head to Carolina.
Calgary shipped Hamilton, NCAA defenseman Adam Fox and left wing Micheal Ferland to the Hurricanes for center Elias Lindholm and defenseman Noah Hanifin on Saturday.
Lindholm and Nahifin are both restricted free agents.
Hamilton, 25, has been traded for the 2nd time in 3 years that Hamilton has been dealt at the NHL draft. Hamilton’s contract seems to be the biggest issue as he comes with a $5.75 million cap hit through 2021 and a modified no-trade clause that kicks in after the upcoming season
Ferland, 26, has 42 goals and 47 assists in 250 games for the Flames last season.
Hanifin, 21, had 32 points over 79 games last season, while Lindholm scored 16 goals and notched 28 assists over 81 games.
